9:30 - 9:40 -- meeting/ stretch

9:40 -- principles of defense

defensive stance/ center of gravity/ knees bent/ arms out
forcing the ball away from the basket toward side line
forcing the dribbler to change direction toward sideline maintaining a 1-2 meter distance
not getting beat/ keep yourself between the basket and offensive player
 

backcourt defense                                         

 do not try to steal the ball  
 just force change in direction

 

      mid court to foul line defense

direct the ball to the nearest corner
force her to use her weak hand or to the offence's weaker players
maintain 1-2 meter distance so to not get beat off the dribble
do not try to steal maintain maintain maintain!!!

1 meter or less to prevent a shot and not get beaten
prevent baseline penetration/ no easy lay ups
one foot behind rather than sliding steps
prevent penetration
force perimeter shot

10:30 -- video basketball defense and rebounding

30 - 50 shots are taken each game
at least 60 - 50% of shots are missed
so smart teams play the percentage
apply good pressure
stay on the ground/ be selective when blocking
establish good rebound position
block out
